We are not going to waste a lot of precious mental bandwidth on the International context. It is blindingly obvious that this species is not interested in giving up fossil fuels. The rich say “screw the poor” and the poor are too busy getting outa poverty to think much about the consequences 30 years down the line. The Industrial Revolution (b. Manchester) was just the same.
