Friday 19th International Park(ing) Day event around the world. PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.
For more details see http://parkingday.org/about-parking-day/ To celebrate Park(ing) Day in Manchester, we have organised Park(ing) Day events on in the Northern Quarter in 2013 and 2012. See links below. The aim of the event(s) are to encourage people to imagine how much better our cities could be if they had fewer spaces for cars and more room for people. Last year, we set up on Thomas Street with wild flower turf, deck chairs, outdoor draughts set, and free tea and coffee and cakes for all, to highlight how much more fun and sociable our city centre could be if it had fewer car parking spaces and more green space. We are thinking about possible activities for Park(ing) Day this year (Friday 19th September) – would you be interested in helping ? Ideas for activities on the day?
