#Manchester City Council fails to produce Green and Blue Infrastructure strategy. For 50 gazillionth time.

Oh, this story is the gift that keeps on giving.

A Green and Blue Infrastructure plan (that’s parks and canals and lakes, to you and me), has been promised and delayed, promised and delayed, so many times that we’ve lost count.

In response to a Lib Dem motion in July, Richard Leese told Full Council that it would be going to scrutiny that month.

neighbourhoodsdec10thFive months later. Still. No.

If this weren’t so indicative of the utter abject uselessness of the City Council on climate and environment issues, it would be funny.

But it is indicative, so it’s not funny.

  1. As the latest local elections show, it is not just climate and environment they are failing to address. They also ignore the very real concerns of the local communities. That is why people are not engaging in local politics, they think Labour will always win, so do not bother voting. So our latest Labour councillor has been voted in by 1 in 20 electorate, not exactly an endorsement of Manchester Labour Party: http://www.pirateparty.org.uk/blog/2013/dec/6/ancoats-and-clayton-election-result/
