   Hmmm! I wonder if Manchester City Council have any policy on purchase of Chinese manufactured capital equipment etc. Their climate change focus (such as it is!) appears to be on energy consumption with little acknowledgement that our 3 planet lifestyle incorporates a huge indirect environmental impact, which is going to affect poor communities in other parts of the world before us. So much for Ms Brundtland’s inter-generational equity principle!

     Back in 2009 Manchester City Council announced that they would adopt a “total carbon footprint” approach for Manchester, which would have included the “embedded carbon”. It’s all there in the “Climate Change Action Plan.”

     Of course,they quietly dropped this a couple of years later, and the ferocious watchdog that it is/was, the “steering group”, allowed the Head of Environmental Strategy to get away with it.

     Promises – lots of them. Delivery and minimal honesty and competence? Not so much.
