Polar Bear Facepalm: North Sea (Oil and Gas) Bubble. #climate #suicide #junkies #fix

Thanks to everyone who came to the “Climate Action in Manchester – where next?” meeting last night. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. More details to follow imminently.

Meanwhile, the Polar Bear (who doesn’t have a name – suggestions?) really has to stop reading Reuters.

It’s almost as if the Tories love the idea of the welfare state. As long as it’s the Corporate Welfare State…

Meanwhile, Mr Billy Bragg.

  1. Kate Gilmartin says:

    Hi,

Really sorry I couldn’t make it yesterday evening, I’ll be at the community energy event in March so will hope to meet you there.

    In the meantime:

My name is Kate, I have set up and run a Community Interest Company ‘My Green Investment’ with the aim of helping communities to develop and own their own renewable energy installations. I run the Micro Hydro Association and the informal collective called the ‘Community Hydro Forum’ which offers peer to peer support for communities developing hydro schemes. I’m hoping to set up community owned PV installations in Manchester.

A sustainable city needs to have diversity of energy generation, alongside energy reduction measures. I want communities to be a part of the democratisation of energy, the more we have at community ownership level, the more resilient the local community can be on many fronts.

Skills that I can offer I have an MSc in renewable energy and have undertaken various projects, feasibility studies, due diligence, financial forecasting. I am happy to scope out projects and work with people to get them off the ground… Setting up IPS, undertaking community share issues etc.

Skills I would welcome… Anyone who is enthusiastic and can help progress potential community energy projects!

    Many thanks,

    Kate
