The evening of entertainment will have a range of delights including:

  • announcement of winners of this years Sunshine grants to local community projects

Auction items… original art from Steven Raw (Tolkien Maps), Lemn Sissay signed book, posh cake, Spanish/french tuition, reflexology session, signed celebrity photos, ironing offer, roller blades and much much more…

Rev John Hughes, one of the St John’s Sunshine directors, said “The solar panels have been fantastic for generating clean energy, funds for local community groups and interest in the environment. Putting more solar panels on St John’s Church will generate more energy and interest.”

St John’s Sunshine: Generating clean green electricity for St John’s Centre. The story so far: we have successfully raised funds via a community share issue to install 3.75kw of solar electric (photovoltaic or PV) panels on the roof of St John’s Church and a display monitor in the St John’s Centre (with help from Unicorn Grocery). Last year we issued our first Sunshine Grants [2], voted on by our members. So the Sunshine panels have generated 9000 Kwh of electricity and saved over 4.5 tonnes of CO2.

St Johns Sunshine are currently raising funds to install another 6kw of solar panels.

The Comedy and Auction night is on Friday 3rd October, 6.15pm at the St John’s Centre, St John’s Road, Old Trafford, M16 7GX.
