Only 1 out of #Manchester City Council’s 10 ‘Strategic Managers’ is carbon literate

The Manchester Climate Change Action Plan of 2009 called for everyone who lives, works or studies in Manchester to have had a day’s ‘carbon literacy training’ by the end of… 2013. Manchester City Council promised to take a leadership role on climate change generally.

And so here we are, three years after the deadline, and a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by Manchester Climate Monthly reveals that only one member of the Strategic Management Team has completed carbon literacy.

Now THAT is leadership.

But don’t despair – the new(ish) Executive Member for the Environment has promised leadership (without targets) on carbon literacy training, so do check back over the coming months and see how many of the SMT has completed their training….

All members of the Senior Management Team (or Strategic Management Team, whatever it’s called these days) and THEIR carbon literacy status.
